Former solopreneur turned health & wellness entrepreneur, travel lover, and believer that good walks should end at craft brewery pubs

    Hello, I'm Iain Girling

Born in Essex in 1948, I'm a Baby Boomer who grew up with all the parental love an only child could want, but none of the grandparent stories my friends cherished, as mine had all passed away before my sixth birthday. What I didn't know then was that entrepreneurship coursed through my veins like vintage wine—both my grandfathers were successful entrepreneurs, and I'd eventually follow that path myself, though certainly not in the way I planned.

I'm the husband of Ann, whom I swept off her feet in Mykonos in 1977 (or perhaps she swept me off mine), and together we've built not just a marriage but a health and wellness business we're passionate about. I'm also a former solopreneur who thrived on twenty-five years of independence after micro-managers showed me the door, an avid reader of everything except horror and science fiction, and a firm believer that any proper walk should end at a pub serving local produce and craft brewery beer.

Doing my best writing with family papers scattered around me and my great-grandfather's poetic legacy whispering in my ear, I loved transforming hand-me-down stories into compelling narratives.

My memoir Speaking My Mind: My Life as a Baby Boomer chronicles 63 years of real life - from holiday romance to marriage, fatherhood, and retirement - proving that even someone who hated English at school can become a storyteller when inspired by family history and a vivid imagination.

When I'm not writing on my first novel (where those family stories, places, and characters are finally coming together), you'll find me travelling through France, Scotland, or Spain with Ann, staying fit with Pilates and personal training, or planning our next travel adventure. Our most recent escapade? Three glorious weeks in France, naturally ending each day with excellent local wine and delightful conversation.

This is just the beginning of my storytelling journey.

    Novel News

I'm finishing my debut crime novel set in the England of the mid-1990s, where computers were mysterious, telephone boxes were lifelines, and small towns held big secrets.

Decades of life experience, places I've walked, and people I've known are woven into every page.
